I Have a Crush on This Gwangju Cafe
It is not uncommon to see me shake my first at the sky and shout the name of a city with disgust as I am scrolling my Instagram feed. "Jeju!" or "Daegu!" have been popular lately, since it seems my Recommended feed is now filled with adorable cafes I am dying to go to...very far outside of Seoul. There is nothing I hate more than seeing a cute place, clicking the location, and seeing it pop up hours or oceans away - cut to me cursing Jeju for their trendy spots just out of my reach.
Today, it was Gwangju that popped out of nowhere. I saw the most adorable latte and lo-and-behold, it was smack-dab in the middle of Gwangju, hours from my office chair in Gangnam, Seoul.
I am in love with this Barbapapa latte, and to be honest, I don't really know anything about Barbapapa! But whoever or whatever he is, it looks delicious! Meringue cookies fill up the creamy latte and the dried strawberries pack a tart punch!
Barbapapa has a friend too! For winter, Hello L cafe introduced an Olaf latte~ Though I've never seen Frozen (I know, I know) Korea went absolutely bonkers for it when it came out. Anything Frozen related gets kids from ages 2 to 40 excited and this latte is no exception.
All the meringues, macarons, cakes, and other small treats are made in-house by the owner/baker and are constantly changing with the season. They even offer baking classes if you want in on their tasty secrets!
Alongside their classic macarons, they have recently introduced the latest Korean dessert trend: a long line of macaron, baked into one massive bar of sweetness.
They dip it in chocolate which is never a bad thing :)
So if you're in Gwangju, do me a favor and pop in for any of these adorable treats and have an extra one for me!
